The team here at trakAx are extremely busy working on the new version of the software which is due shortly, so please forgive the slight delay in the new weblog. In this blog, I am going to concentrate on some interesting and useful links and websites.
I hope these links and sites will provide you with some motivating ideas for the potential filmmaker in you and who knows, perhaps make some money in the process. If filmmaking isn’t exactly your thing, I hope to provide some links that will hopefully deliver some light reading if you’re bored at work (don’t blame me if your boss catches you) or just chilling at home.
The first topic I’m going to begin with is YouTube. In this new era of social networking and content creation, it would be fair to say that YouTube is one of the best known websites in the world. But isn’t YouTube just a recreational video sharing site? If your creations are interesting enough and have a lot of subscribers/viewers, you can start to make money, six-figure money. And in the time of a credit crunch, that can’t be too bad.
Here are some articles on people who have successfully leveraged their popularity and have begun to make some real Benjamins.

If you want to start generating cash, you may wish to learn some basic filmmaking techniques. So here are some useful links for the budding filmmaker and also the amateur enthusiast.
The first article, entitled “12 Tips for Better Film Editing,” by Oliver Peters may seem a bit complex but if you’re fascinated with filmmaking, there are some really useful tips and techniques in here that will help you on your way to becoming the next Scorsese or Tarantino.

However, if you are new to this whole area and consider yourself a complete novice, this next link maybe for you. I stumbled across this page and thought it was excellent with loads of ideas for the amateur video cam user. The article is entitled “Videoguy’s Tips for Shooting Family/Home/Holiday Videos”. There are some great tips and techniques for first time camera users and I certainly learned some new skills.

After you have created your video, which video sharing site should you upload your video content to? Which sites offer the best screen resolution (sharpness), pixilation, frame rate (jerkiness), sound quality and level, the design of the embed window, etc. Well Karel Bata has set up a video embedding test which consists of videos uploaded to various hosting sites and then embedded and scaled up to 640 on a VIRB page for comparison. Decide for yourself which hosting site is best.
And finally, this last link is for all readers out there who’re maybe bored in work or have some spare reading/browsing time. “101 Essential Filmmaker Sites” does exactly what it says on the tin, 101 websites on everything from the Film Industry, Film Schools, Copyright and Script registration, Film Festivals, Employment, Film News & Blogs, Criticism and Reviews and much more. There will hopefully be something for everybody in here:

I hope some of you out there may find this weblog beneficial and may use some of the tips and techniques highlighted in some of the articles. And remember if you do get around to creating content you’d like feedback on, you can always upload and share it with us in our forum.

Until next time,

Cant wait until the new software will be releashed!
Looking forward TraxAx!
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It’s the old what goes around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I see lots of trackbacks?
