Where is trakAxPC Pro?

We thought it was about time we gave you some update on where we are with the new version of trakAxPC. We are nearly there - we promise.

We have been delayed almost a month making a last minute change. However, this change was quite fundamental and we believe it will make a real difference in how you interact with the application when making videos.

Previously when you were making a video, you simply created the video and then picked your chosen output. The flaw in this method was that at different screen resolutions and dimensions, your video, photos and credits could look slightly different from how you were previewing it in the mixing screen - for example at 16:9 the screen dimensions are naturally different from say at 8:5. For this reason we have added a new drop down menu to the mixing screen where you can choose your screen resolution from common output formats while you are making a mix. I have attached a screen shot below to demonstrate this:

Now when you are creating a video in the mixing screen, what you see really is what you get. You can be sure if you are creating a video for YouTube HD, your iPhone or simply to play in your wide-screen monitor, it will look stunning and that you will experience no video stretching. This feature obviously took some time to both integrate and test, but we are confident that the hard lifting is now done and we are in the final stages of bug fixing.

I thought I would take this opportunity to show a few other features that are included in the new release:

Document Mapping - Find Missing Files

Now if you have moved or reorganised your file structures, you don’t have to freak out when opening previously made mixes. You can now locate missing files in the mix using the Missing Link functionality.

Collage and Text Effects
We know from the forum that Text and Credits is probably the most sought after feature in the new release. After text, we have had lots of requests for Picture-in-Picture or what we like to call Collages. I just got a new laptop here in the office, so thought I would test out both these features along with the web-cam that is built into my new trusty Toshiba.

Below is a very rough little video to demonstrate both these features in trakAxPC Pro:

YouTube HD

The new YouTube HD is really cool and allows you to create really stunning videos to share online. With trakAxPC Pro you can create stunning HD videos and upload your creations directly to YouTube from the application.

To give you an idea of the quality of the HD videos, I attached a short video Cormac made with trakAxPC Pro - as you can see, even the smallest detail is crystal clear.

So when will we see trakAxPC Pro?

We are definitely going live with trakAxPC Pro this July - come hell or high water! This gives us two weeks to complete testing and have everything online for you guys to download. We will be firmly keeping to this deadline and there will be no further extensions to this release date.

Stayed tuned and as always, thanks to everyone for their supportive comments and never-ending patience!

When the new proversion comes out, do we delete the free version first?

Posted by  on  Thursday, July 16, 2009  at  02:00 AM

Hi Nelson - the new version will require a reinstall (& uninstall of the old version). Moving forward however, new versions will just require making an update.

Thanks for the message,

Uhh.. Will the collage improvement be available with the free version? Because that’s all i really need at the moment. But i might be willing to pay anyway smile It looks promising.

Really looking forward to the new release! Especially the Pro Version. Please let me know the moment it is available. The “old” TracAxPC already provides outstanding features and we have used the product extensively to produce some excellent youtube videos (albeit at low resolution only). Thanks again for having the courage, patience and commitment to develop and release this product, you are special people!

This release is like Dr Dre’s ‘Detox’ album. There is talk of it but nowhere to be!  It’s almost the end of the month and still no Trakax Pro!  My credit card is right by my computer ready for purchase.  Hurry!

Posted by  on  Saturday, July 25, 2009  at  04:45 AM

nelson, i wouldnt get your hopes up for anything before July 31st.

Posted by  on  Sunday, July 26, 2009  at  05:27 AM

if you have two laptops/computers, can you use the single purchase to put trakax in each of your computers?

Posted by  on  Monday, July 27, 2009  at  10:24 AM

Yes, that’s right. The purchase of one license code is good for two activations - home / office or PC / Laptop.

compatible with both windows xp and vista 64 ? (as you can see, I am PATIENTLY waiting for it to come out!)

i am anticipating a release later today.

Posted by  on  Friday, July 31, 2009  at  07:00 AM

I wish this program could edit recordings from vinyl like cool edit pro version 2.1 with hiss and pop removers.  but, the features this claims to have in the Pro version are so worth the small fee of $24.00.  Hey, if it doesn’t come out today, can we get a 50% deal?

Posted by  on  Friday, July 31, 2009  at  09:36 AM

Uh-uh!!!! It’s the last day of July! Here comes hell and high water. LOL.

Posted by Danni R.  on  Friday, July 31, 2009  at  04:51 PM

I’m going on vacation tomorrow in the mountains.  There is no internet connection. I had hoped to be able to purchase and download PRO version before we leave so I could work/play on my laptop sitting beside the lake!

What’s the latest on the new release?????

Posted by  on  Sunday, August 02, 2009  at  05:22 AM

got an email from them and they said they are gonna release it within 10-14 days.  Finally.  The HD video alone is worth the wait.

Posted by  on  Sunday, August 02, 2009  at  06:37 AM

Ok, they promised by July 31st and there is no word from anyone about the release.

Can anyone please give us an update?

Where is the new release?

Al (Dj Arity).

Posted by Dj Arity  on  Tuesday, August 04, 2009  at  12:59 PM

Hi Everyone,

We had a slight delay due to some complications with the infrastructure needed to release the software.  We are working extremely hard to solve the last few issues. As you know, we are a very small team, but we have all hands on board to get this issue resolved and the software released asap.

On the plus side, we have also added a one-click converter in the Media Browser - so you can now convert for example a WMV to a MPEG-4 (with H.264 codec) or a WMA to MP3 without having to parse the files. Really handy for quick conversions. You can have multiple files converting at one time.

I will update again tomorrow.

Many thanks (& once again apologies for the delay),

Posted by Catriona  on  Tuesday, August 04, 2009  at  07:44 PM

When you said you would updated again “Tomorrow” and that was 12 days ago.

A question for the new version:

Will the new version be able to remove a track, let’s say #4 of 12 tracks and insert another one in it’s place without affecting the remaining ones #5-#12?

Or Will the new version be able to insert a track in the middle of others and keeping the remaining ones intact in the timelime?

Let me know and thanks in advance,
Dj Arity

Posted by  on  Wednesday, August 12, 2009  at  08:07 PM

Hi DJ Arity,

You can remove / insert tracks within the Mixing Screen at any time without effecting any of the other tracks that you have created.

We have also introduced “Grouping” and “Locking” in trakAxPC Pro.

Grouping allows you to combine several segments into a group so that the objects are treated, moved or copied as a single unit.

You can create up to 9 different groups within each mixing screen and each group is labelled accordingly. This is extremely handy when creating complex mixes where there are many elements or different phases.

You can also lock segments or groups of segments. The Lock functionality allows you to lock a segment, group of segments or selection to a fixed area in the mix – they will not move when selected. Again this is handy if you are selecting large areas of your mix, but want certain segments/ phases to remain in place.

Thanks for your message.
Again apologies for the delay - almost all the outstanding issues have been dealt with and we are making great progress every day.

Thanks again,

Maybe I am not familiar with the procedure of inserting a track. How do I go about inserting a track at playlist location # 2 when there are, let say 4 tracks?

Also, will the new pro version be able to produce a playlist file or export the name of the tracks in the playlist out to a file?

Also, will the new pro version be able to burn CD/DVD’s from the application? and on burning CD’s can the application burn a CD with the names of the tracks in the CD?( like using a .cue file)?

Sorry for all the last minute questions.

Thanks again,
Dj Arity

This is a awesome product.

Being me, I’m not as worried about the little stuff...but I cant wait Pro! Please update soon so we know where you are and if it will be out anytime soon.

Posted by  on  Sunday, August 16, 2009  at  07:15 PM

Hi DJ Arity,

In the current version, if you want to insert a new track, right-click anywhere on the Mixing Screen and click “Insert”. Then choose Audio or Video track. A new audio / video track with then be inserted. By clicking on the Track area and dragging, you can move this track up / down, in order to place it in the position of your choosing. This track is then available for you to drag and drop content from the Media window or trakKutter into it. Let me know if you want further info on this and Cormac can post some screenshots in the forum.

When you are exporting / converting files in the new version, you can add data such as Author, Title, Artist, Genre and Comments.

We have not addded CD / DVD burning in the Pro Version. We felt that all the options required to provide really good CD / DVD burning (File Menu, Sleeve design etc.) are provided by many different applications and our resources would be better spent making the actual software as good and stable as possible. iTunes / Windows Media Player provide excellent CD burning facilities and are free to install. Many newer PCs/ Laptops now come with DVD burning software, but we can recommend some other programs if you need. We have focused mainly on sharing mixes online - such as direct upload to YouTube.

Last week was extremely productive and we’re confident that the issues that delayed us are now almost resolved.

Many thanks again for the comments and the patience.

Best regards,

Thanks for the information. What about producing a playlist from all the tracks in the mix in text format that could be edited with notepad or such?
Is that available in the PRO version?

I would like to see a video on how one can insert a track in the middle of the mixed tracks.

Waited, waited and waited, and have now bought Premiere Elements across the campus. I was hoping to use TAPro for all of the students on our journalism courses, but the no show for this new version (and the network save bug) made it impossible.
Shame, as it looks like good software.

I can not wait.  please hurry!

Posted by  on  Friday, August 28, 2009  at  12:36 AM

I’m sure you guys have enough pressure as it is, but it seems as though everyone’s getting pretty frustrated with the delays and the lack of promised updates on what is going on.
Is Pro really going to come out?  I’ve put my recording on hold and have already started looking up alternative software to buy (instead of Pro).
I really like TrakAx, and plan on buying Pro the day that it comes out, but I am honestly starting to feel like this is never going to happen.
Any updates?  How about a real potential release date?  I really don’t know how much longer I can wait.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I completely appreciate your frustration with the delays that we have been experiencing. As a small development house, we have always felt the need to put out the best possible release of the Pro version, as unlike some of the bigger software manufacturers, we will only get one shot at making a good impression.

We needed to continue with the stress testing on a variety of platforms - XP / Vista and Pentium 3/4/Dual Core - and then we needed to complete further testing on the default export options - YouTube / PSP / iPhone / iPod etc. This all took longer than expected and led to these unexpected delays. I hope you can understand our need to ensure all these options were covered, rather than making a release only to have even a few unhappy customers.

We are extremely close to making the release available. We will be in touch personally with everyone who has taken the time give us feedback and support as soon as we have a general release available. You should see changes to the site over the next few days in preparation for the release.

We continue to appreciate your support and patience and we hope that you can bear with us in the final stretch.

Many thanks,

okay.  I will have to download the free version again and wait till the pro comes out.  Thanks for updating us on the whereabouts of the PRO.  I still can’t wait for it.

i’m using trakax for my performing arts high school class, and am running into the network folder problem.  will there be another free PC version that addresses this problem?

thank you!

Posted by  on  Wednesday, September 02, 2009  at  04:20 PM

@ Dave - There is currently a network issue when installing the application. Sometimes a network administrator may decide to map the physical location of the “My Documents” directory for each user onto the server (or somewhere else on the network). There is a bug in the current version of trakAxPC with how it parses network paths such this and it will not launch. However, if the documents directory is assigned an actual drive name, this should work fine. Apologies that this is somewhat complicated.

This bug will be resolved in our upcoming release.

@ MECHANICALPRI - The new version supports (import / export) MP4 H.264, MP3, AAC etc., so all popular formats are supported.

Sorry if asked before.....but, will the Pro version support VOB files??  If so, I’ll be ready to make the purchase upon release!!

Posted by  on  Thursday, September 17, 2009  at  01:39 AM

Hi Jason,

thanks for your message - in case others are wondering VOB files are the files on a DVD that contain the actual video, audio, subtitles, and menus for the DVD.  Video and Audio on a VOB file are compressed using MPEG-2. Due to this structure, you cannot directly import VOB files into trakAxPC Pro. However, you can use conversion software to split out the chapters of a VOB file into regular MPEG-2 files. However if the VOB file does not contain chapters, often you can just change the extension to “.mpg” and then bring them directly into trakAxPC Pro.

I hope this makes sense and if you require any further clarification on this, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks!

Hi Stipe,

Thanks for your message.

If you would like to export your mix to WMV / WMA etc. in Version 2, please use the “Render Button” which is located in the right-hand corner of the mixing window. The link below to the forum contains screenshots of this process:

We are currently finalising Version 3 (trakAxPC Pro) and hope to have it released asap.

Many thanks for your support,

It’s been now almost 2 months since you told us back in July that the Pro version was in manufacturing (Software?) Isn’t someone writting code?. Anyhow, what’s the deal. Are we getting the new version or what?
You know who.

Just a non-threatening request for an update.  Please let us know.  From an outsider it honestly seems as though the project is no longer going to be released.  Please tell us otherwise.  Please tell us anything!

Thank You

Posted by Tim  on  Saturday, October 17, 2009  at  04:27 AM

Hi Tim,

Many thanks for your mail and we completely understand everyone’s frustration with what seems to be a lack of progress.

We have been working solidly to get the new release out and have been in the office almost 7 days a week for the last few months to close this out. We encountered one issue that actually took a month of testing to get right - I won’t go into all the details, but suffice to say it was a set-back that we didn’t expect and was a major blow to our initial release date.

However, this issue is now resolved. Everything is working really well. We are doing a bit more testing to ensure the app will run as smoothly as possible. You can see videos of the new version running on YouTube at:

I can now confidently say we are extremely close to a release date. Although from the delays it may not seem the case, but we want to get this out more than anyone. We are so excited to see what you think of the new features and to get your feedback.

As always, thanks for sticking with us.

Posted by Catriona  on  Friday, October 23, 2009  at  08:09 AM

So, Has this come out yet?? Or are we STILL waiting for it, in November?

Do we have to pay for the file coverter? I have to have it so I can burn my mixes to a CD - I make my mixes for my cheer team, so i have to have them in an MP3 format.

Plus, when we get the newer version and reinstall, will our old files be gone? Because I NEED them! I worked forever on my cheer mixes, and I can’t just redo them.

Hey Guys,

We are in the finally stages of Beta testing and we will be releasing the application in the next few days. We promise. We are really excited about it as it’s been a hard slog, but believe we have a great product and hope you guys will agree.

So keep watching this space as we’re nearly there,

Best regards,

Will trakaxpc pro be free?

Posted by  on  Friday, December 04, 2009  at  01:33 AM

AFAIK TrakAxPc Pro will cost like $30. I’m hoping they’ll still update the free version with a few new features.

Posted by  on  Friday, December 04, 2009  at  07:39 PM

Yeah dude, the free version will have tons of extra features.  Then you can upgrade your free version to pro version to add the extra features.

Go to this article:

Then read the section where it says “Putting bread on the table” just before the comments section.

Posted by Joe  on  Friday, December 04, 2009  at  08:42 PM

Any update on the release date?  I’ve got a few projects lined up and my credit card by my side.  Been checking the site at least twice a day, every day.  I really need the new software.  Is there any hope that it will be released this week?  We keep hearing “next few days” but what does that mean?
Please provide an update.  I really like trakax and don’t want to buy a different software, but I’m growing increasingly restless.  I keep delaying deadlines because the old trakax doesn’t do everything I need it to do, but it seems like the new trakax does.
Again, I really want to stay loyal to this software (I think it’s great), but I really need to know when it’s going to be released, I don’t know how much longer I can wait.

Posted by  on  Sunday, December 06, 2009  at  07:27 PM

If I where you, I would wait. Trust Me!!!!!
Dj Arity

Posted by  on  Sunday, December 06, 2009  at  10:40 PM

Dj Arity,

I have all intentions of waiting, but I would like to know how much longer I need to wait.
From reading the description of the new Pro Version it sounds like great software (especially considering the price)… but there are so many projects that I’ve been waiting to start since Pro was supposed to have been released way back in July.
I want to wait, but I honestly can’t wait another month or two.
The most tragic part about it is that I’ve recommended the software to others and have also been telling them to wait out until pro, but with all the delays, a lot of them have just moved on to something else.
I really want to wait for Pro, I just hope it’s out soon.  If a release date were given, it would make it easier to wait, but it just really feels like it may never come out.
I hope I’m wrong.

Posted by  on  Sunday, December 06, 2009  at  10:56 PM

I feel your pain and I understand the situation cause I am also waiting for the new version. However, I know for sure it is comin out really soon. You can start your project with the current version and catchup later when they release the new version.

However, I have to let you know that it will be worth the wait. I know that it will be worth the wait. This software package is the easiest to use out there and for the price, it can’t be beat. I have mixmeister and other sophisticated music producing software and I keep ooming back to TrakAxPC. For what I do, it works great and now with the new version I’ll be able to produce even better mixes with the enhanced mp4 export formats which is really amazing (for iPods).

I am sticking with TrakAx.....

I know it will be coming out soon.. Very Soon.

Late A,
Dj Arity.
ps. all the mixes that are featured in my monthly podcast show are made with TrakAxPC!!!!

Posted by  on  Monday, December 07, 2009  at  01:39 AM

pro is already done they’re finalizing it now.  i was fortunate enough to beta test the new software and i can assure you it will be well worth the wait when officially released (soon).

Posted by  on  Monday, December 07, 2009  at  05:17 AM

There is a beta out that I signed up for to use the new software and report bugs.  Maybe you could ask to beta test too?  That way you would hurry the release date along and still have v2 to work with in the process?

Posted by Tim  on  Monday, December 07, 2009  at  08:40 AM

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for all the comments.

As per DJ Arity and CramInBlaze’s comments, we are indeed almost there. Today we are ironing out the last remaining issues, which are mainly admin functions to license the software etc.

The site is currently being updated for the new release, so apologies if some pages will be looking slightly off for a few hours.

The release will be available this week without fail and this time, we really mean it!

Thanks everyone for such great support throughout the long wait - we greatly appreciate it.

I couldn´t belive it. It was such a long time. Look forward to this weeks release.

Posted by hendric  on  Monday, December 07, 2009  at  09:03 AM

Well I guess the word is out. I too also had the priviledge to beta test the Pro edition. I felt that it wasn’t my place to release any information about the status. But now that it is all out, I have to say that TrakAxPC Pro edition is pretty solid running under Windows XP.

I created a few Mix Sets in less time than before and some of the new features are just really cool. The video editing can’t be any simpler and precise.

All around it is just a great piece of software and I love using it.

The software team there did a great job and they did that right thing by holding off the release.

Thank you all there at High Andes for all their hard work.

Just downloaded and installed Pro (purchased version), and it was worth the wait.  Wow.  You guys really did an awesome job.

Two quick questions.  I was trying to mess with the split screen feature.  Is there any way to get the the two clips side by side instead of on top of each other?

Is there a way to do slow motion with video clips?

These two functions would make this the greatest software purchase ever.

Great software.  Thanks.

Congratulations High Andes for a job well done and finally releasing the new version of TrakAxPc software.

Yes you can do both these functions (change the split screen and adjusting the play-rate), I have done a small video to show you how these can be done. You can check it out at the following link.

You can learn more about the transitions and the collage feature at the following link

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
