Hi,

I’ve just downloaded TrakAxPC and installed it without any problems. Getting it running is impossible. While the splashscreen shows ‘initialising Video Transitions’ a windows error message appears. I include a MS Word document showing these error messages. Browsing the internet learned that other programs have problems with the same dll file (qedit.dll)as well. So after renaming all existing qedit.dll files on my PC (even in the servicepacks) I was able to start the application but that was it. No inserting files, editing, etc… possible. Therefore...HEEELP.

The same problem has already been posted here, but I don’t find the solution here.

I have a:
Intel Pentium IV, 2.4Gh
1Gb Ram
Windows XP Pro SP 2
DirectX 9c
70Gb of free space on the harddrive
IE 7.0

Thanks.

Hi Robe

I have been talking to the dev team. Ans they have a couple of suggestions.

As “QEdit.dll” is a DIrectX file it may be worth reinstalling the latest DIrectX runtime (9 Series) from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en).

Failing that:
you should send us over a copy of his “qedit.dll” from the “Windows\System32” directory so we can have a look at it.

Also can you tell us what other multimedia applications you have installed on your machine.

Thanks

Cormac

Hi,

Reinstalling DirectX didn’t work.

The multimedia applications I use, don’t have any problems with the dll. (Nero 8)

Included: qedit.zip containing qedit.dll

Regards,

RoBe

Hi Robe

The dev team have been looking at your error and the qedit, dll file seems fine.

we installed it on our test machine(XP) and verified its operation with trakax.
We also downloaded and installed the latest version of Nero. All worked fine.

To verify that the DirectX installation is ok you may run DxDiag.exe from Windows/System32 directory.
This will tell you if you are having problems with direct x.

Also attached to this post is a utility (graphedt.zip) we use it to load media files via DirectX -
Once you have run it Go [File -> Render Media File] to load a file and then hit the play button.

If both of these work we can discount an error with directX and we can explore further possibilities.

Thanks
Cormac

Hi Cormac,

I just found out that even Windows (R) does not escape from the evil qedit.dll.  I ‘ve tried Windows Moviemaker 2.1 (included in XP Servicepack 2) and ... same error as trakaxpc.  But the whole thing must be a combination of installed software.
I have an unused laptop.  I restored de OS completely (XP Home SP 1) then I installed trakaxpc. Ran it and.... it worked.  Then I upgraded the OS to SP2, included directX 9c and it kept on working.  Unfortunattely, this is, at the present, no option for my PC.
Regards,

RoBe
