1. Extract audio from video file.  If not this, then the ability to keep the audio track from a video running while pictures are laid over the visual.
2. Visual placement of in/out markers.  It’s much easier to get a clean cut of audio if I can place my in/out lines visually, based on the waveforms, instead of having to rely on the timing of listening to the track and responding myself, let alone my phone responding as slowly as it might.  Double bonus if we can visualize the audio track for videos so we can place the markers more precisely there, too.
3. More font options for titling.
4. S60 release

Having only used this software for one day, I’m sure I’ll come up with more later.  But, this all said, thanks for producing a very fun piece of software, I look forward to continuing to play with it.

Hi flippantj,

Many thanks for all your suggestions - they are all really interesting and valid. Some we are currently working on and others we will definitely take on board.

Thanks for taking the time to write to us and we appreciate all your input.

I really appreciate the staff attention to the forums here, it’s really encouraging to see. More suggestions:

7. The ability to set defaults such as Looping Disabled, and a default output mode for the final mix.

Hi - thanks for the comments.

You can currently control whether your audio or video loops from the Editing Screens (tick indicates that the media will loop) - see screenshot below:
trakAxMobile_loopAudioVideo.jpg

You can control your file outputs using the Mix Wizard, which is available from the Mixing Screen (please see screenshot below):
trakAxMobile_mixWizard.jpg
Using the Wizard, you can save your mixes in the following formats:

* Best Quality: MPEG4 or AAC if audio only - Very high-quality file: Perfect for uploading to the web through your PC
* Free Mixing: MPEG4 or AAC if audio only - - High-quality file: Smaller file size than ‘Best Quality’
* Ringtones: AAC/WAV if AAC isn’t supported as Ringtones on the phone
* Small MMS: .3GP H263+AMR or AMR if audio only
* Large MMS: .3GP H263+AMR or AMR if audio only
* Small Email Multimedia: MPEG4 or AAC if audio only
* Large Email Multimedia: MPEG4 or AAC if audio only
* Note: MPEG4 files contain MPEG4 video with AAC audio. 3GP files contain H263 video and AMR audio

Hope that this is helpful.
Keep the suggestions coming and many thanks!

Hi flippantj,

Actually a colleague just pointed out to me, that you probably meant that you would like to be able to define your own defaults - this is definitely something we can look into.

Thanks again,

C

Thanks C. Yes, I was looking for the ability to set this as a default.  I look forward to any updates to the software.

Hi, I just purchased TrakAx for my 8525. Very impressive! I am a visual effects artist by trade, so I’m very familiar with video editing systems.

To add to what flippantj has already requested:

1. Extract audio from video file.  If not this, then the ability to keep the audio track from a video running while pictures are laid over the visual.

I agree. It can be as simple as a check box for ‘video on/off’ on the mixing screen layer tab.

From the looks of it, I think this has already been implemented in a newer version I saw on the blog page, correct? Although I still can’t do it, I’m on version 1.48..

3. More font options for titling.

That would be great!

5. Ability to mix in text effects.  I’d like to fade in and fade out titles on the fly, not unlike the names and titles that come up under speakers on news shows.

Yes, a great request. Or even the ability to overlay GIF or PNG images that have an alpha channel onto video or pics (like the ‘picture frames’ on the newer version, I guess).

6. Sequence mode. The ability to sequence tracks instead of having to press play and mix between them.

This is the most basic feature I can’t believe isn’t implemented. When I first used it, I loaded 6 videos onto 6 layers and assumed it would play from one to the next. I didn’t understand that I had to cue the transitions ‘live’ while it was playing. The ability to have the next layer play when the previous one finishes (taking into account transitions and looping) should definitely be top priority. Perhaps it could be like the image slideshow feature now? Drag several video clips to one layer, then you can go to the video layer and set your ins/outs and transitions to go from one clip to the next sequentially. Please! smile

7. The ability to set defaults such as Looping Disabled, and a default output mode for the final mix.

User assignable defaults! A must have for sure..

Great program! I look forward to the updates.. smile

Hi 3D Piper,

Many thanks for your message and feedback - we appreciate it. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - has been kinda hectic here for the last few days.

In regards to your points, I have outlined what we plan to do on each one:

1. Extract audio from video file.
Currently you can create a ringtone from the audio of a video track (by choosing Ringtone in the Wizard), but we will definitely look at the ability to turn off the video track and simply leave the audio.

2. Visual placement of in/out markers.
We also agree and this function will be available in an update which will be released soon. Everyone who has purchased trakAxMobile will be able to upgrade to this new version.

3. More font options for titling.
This is a slightly more tricky area. Mobile devices normally are only available with a system font which we use. Unfortunately to make more font options available we would have to license the fonts and embed them into the app. Although I also think the system font could be nicer, to license and embed fonts would greatly increase the price and the size of the app. What we have done though for the new release is improve the anti-aliasing of the text, so that they appear smoother and clearer. We have also added the ability to choose font colours and background colours.

5. Ability to mix in text effects.
We will explore the ability to fade in/out text. In the new release we will allow users to overlay frames/borders and themes over their videos and pictures and it is quite a neat feature.

6. Sequence mode.
It is really interesting to hear your feedback on this. When designing trakAxMobile, our intial aim was to allow users to be in complete control of the mix - you decide when each photo/video/music track comes live (just as you would using an editing app on the PC). We also wanted to make it as easy as possible to do when on the move. I sometimes find it difficult to write a text message using the touchscreen when in a car/taxi/bus etc., so we didn’t want to make it fiddly - just click the buttons in the mixer and the media comes live. However, we will definitely looks at the possibility of simply selecting an option like ‘auto-play’ and you selections play automatically in the order that they were assigned.

7. The ability to set defaults such as Looping Disabled, and a default output mode for the final mix.
Currently the Looping options are available in the Editing Screens for Audio and Video - looping on/off. All media is currently defaulted to looping on. Currently the default mode of the final mix is ‘free-mixing’ - we will explore the possibility of allowing the user to choose their default save mode.

I hope this helps and many thanks for sharing your thoughts!
If you ever require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
