Video/Audio gets off after prep for Mixing

I’ve been testing out trakAx mobile and am impressed over all!

However, when I mix the videos, there is an issue with video files after they are prepped for mixing. Prior to the prep they are fine with no lag issues. However, after prep for mixing the audio gets off compared to the video.

I checked to make sure there were no other programs running on my phone… none. I tried more than one video… same. I even lowered the resolution on the videos that I took on my phone… and after prep for mixing they still got off.

Any ideas?

Hey - thanks for your mail. I actually checked out your blog (Google notifys me when trakAx.com in mentioned online & I recognised the name!) and I take it that you are talking about the voice not being in sync with the video?

Can you check the source video recorded with the camera by the HTC TyTn II - when you play the source video in Windows Media Player on the device, is the voice sync slightly off? If the voice sync is slightly off in the source file from the camera, unfortunately there’s not much we can do as we simply use the source file.

However, if there is no voice-sync issue in the source, then if possible, could forward me an example file to , so we can investigate this further and get to the bottom of this for you.

We noticed this voice-syncing issue on a few devices, but the lag occurs from the actual camera recording (during the video capture) and isn’t related to trakAxMobile, and thus far, we haven’t been able to replicate this issue.

There are some reported problems with the voice syncing from the camera on the HTC TyTn II - see the comments on the website Mobile Tech Review: “Quality is fairly good other than poor voice sync” (Paragraph 15).

I actually use a HTC TyTn (not a TyTn II). I did a quick test on the device (you can ignore the scary face at the end of the video!) - I am not seeing the same issue, there is no lag between the audio and the video in the source file and no discernable difference between the source file and the trakAxMobile file.

Original Source File from HTC

File Mixed & Saved in trakAxMobile

(For those who are interested in this type of thing, there is a very technical, but interesting article on Audio/Video Sync issues available on the site Inventa)

I hope we can get to the bottom on this for you, so that you can fully enjoy trakAxMobile - looking forward to hearing back.

Many thanks!

I’ve recorded a quick video clip with my HTC TyTN II.

PREMIX Video/Audio Sync Test

POSTMIX Video/Audio Sync Test

There is a big difference! Should I email the original files?

If you could email the original file, that would be really great.

If you could send them to me at , we will look into this immediately and hopefully find a solution.

Many thanks,

Catriona

BTW - The development guys have a HTC TyTN II, so we will have the same device to test on. If the file is too large to email, just contact me at the address above and I can organise for you to upload it.

Thanks again and I’m sure we’ll be able to get to the bottom on this issue.

Hi - just to let everyone know, we have found the issue with this.

Some MPG4 video packets don’t contain any timestamp and this was causing the problem of the AV not in sync. We have now rectified this issue and will have a updated release early next week. Not all devices will exhibit this AV out of sync problem, but the new release should be loaded anyway.

Anyone who has purchased the application will be contacted and a new release made available to them free of charge.

Thanks!
