Hi lak lak,

Many thanks for your kind words and for downloading trakAxPC.

In trakAxPC, it is possible to change individual BPM’s of tracks within the mixing screen and the trakKutter.

Below are some screenshots of the icons you can use to change the individual and global BPM of tracks in your mix and trakKutter.

You can also learn all about BPM and beatmatching in the trakAxPC tutorial video entitled “BPM & Beat Matching”, which explains in detail everything you need to know about BPM and Beat Matching in trakAxPC.

So what can you do if the detected beat is off by something that is not just a factor of two.  For example, I have a short drum beat that should be at around 120 BPMs, but it detects about 140 BPMs and I can’t get it to where I want it.  Is there a way to override the assumption that the beat detection will only be off by a factor of 2?

Also, if you open a song in the TrakKutter that has changes in tempo, is there a way to cut and paste different segments of the song that have different tempos into separate TrakKutter tabs and have it detect the tempo of each segment individually?  When I tried this it took the detected tempo for the entire song for both segments, which worked okay for one segment, but not for the other.

Hi tdboone

At the moment, we only have the facility to override the tempo by 2.

But you can bring in a loop and right click on the segment to bring up its properties.(see screen-shot).

Once segment properties window is brought up adjust the tempo of that segment to 120.(see screen-shot)

Once you have adjusted the tempo of that segment to 120bps, click on the unlock tempo button in the track name (see screen-shot). The loop will now be unlocked from the global tempo and will play at 120bpm. You can then line it up with other tracks but as it is unlocked it will not be beat-matched so you might have to line it up manually. You can then copy this segment along the track.

In the same way with a track with different tempos, you can cut that section out in the trakkutter and then place it in the mixing screen, right click on the segment properties, adjust the tempo to your desired bpm and click on the unlock button in the track name.

To cut out a section in the trakkutter, double click on the track in the Media Browser to bring it into the trakkutter. When the track is in the trakkutter, hold the shift key on your keyboard and move you mouse to make your selection, then right click on the selection and select copy. Then right click and select paste in the mixing screen.

If you have any questions and need any more help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards
Cormac
