Hi there!

It’s a really cool software! No doubt about it.

But I am looking for some freeware that allow me to mix .flv files.
Mix them, not just join them.
This trakAxPC can not even open a flv file so far.
So I think that should be a great step foward (in improvement sense)
to open and edit flv files (nowadays, Youtubedays...)…

Please, any plug, or patch to be able to open and edit flv files
in a hurry…

Hi

Thanks for your mail.

Unfortunately, trakAxPC does not decode flv files in the current version, we will be adding this in the new update which is due very shortly. Please see our development roadmap for more information. http://www.trakax.com/software/about/comments/avchd_mov_and_flv_support/

I would recommend is to do a batch conversion of the flv files using Format Factory (which is a great free tool) to MP4(if you are still using the trial or purchased version) or AVI or WMV if you are using the free version of the application.

A batch conversion allows you convert many files at the one time instead of having to do them one at a time.

Once they are converted you can bring them into trakAxPC to crossfade and edit them.

I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Best regards

Cormac

Thank you Cormac!

I suspect that any conversion about audio and video causes some damage.
Many of those videos are so nicely good looking (considering the fact they’re flv
on web streaming files) and it seems that I should have to corvert them to another
format (another compression process) to be able to mix and crossfade them and then
another copression to mix down. Hmmmmmmmmm…

I think, it will cause some huge degradation to the final cut, don’t you?

Hi Marcelo

Thanks for the update.

Yes, of course there will be some degradation as you are compressing it yet again but if you pick the highest quality in format factory it could be minimal hopefully. As you know, there will be another compression stage when editing but if you choose MP4 (codec H2.64) in the application, fingers crossed it will not be so noticeable for your users. A shame I know but this is the only way to edit FLV files in the application at the moment unfortunately.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

Cormac
