There are known issues with TrakAxPC v2.0.108

1.ISSUE: If the TrakKutter pane is hidden when the application is shut down then the next time the application is launched the screen may appear corrupted.
FIX: Click on the TrakKutter icon in the toolbar or double click on the application title bar to resize the application window.
STATUS: Will be fixed in next release.

2.ISSUE:Our company name is Highandes and the application icon resides in the highandes folder in the program files not a trakaxPC folder. We realise this can be confusing for users and will be fixed for the next release.

3.ISSUE:It is not possible to set the volume level of an audio segment in the mixing palette above 200%.
FIX / WORKAROUND: None.
STATUS: Will be fixed in next release.

4.ISSUE: Scroll bar does not work with scroll wheel on mouse in the Mixing Palette.
FIX / WORKAROUND: None
STATUS: Will be fixed in next release.

5.ISSUE: Failed to initialise AppOpts Module error.
FIX / WORKAROUND: This occurs when your MyDocuments Folder is mapped to a network drive. To fix this map your My Documents folder to your local machine and not a network drive.
STATUS: Will be fixed in next release.

6. ISSUE: Error message comes up with no windows disk:error message:
FIX: This is a Windows Os issue regarding the Cd-Rom drive.
STATUS: We have found a workround and will be included in the next release.

First of all, I don’t know the proper terminology, so forgive me if I butcher anything.

Bug: When in the track view, clicking any given track and then scrolling the mouse wheel to shift the track view either up or down, the scroll bar scrolls downward, but the view remains in place. Even when scrolling the mouse wheel up, the scroll bar moves downward.

Suggestion: On the tool bar, in the mix view, directly below the “adjust play rate” knob is the play position knob. I find the knob far too sensitive to be useful; it jumps very far distances with hardly any mouse movement. Furthermore, it does not allow a way to manually input a specific point on the time line. I believe this control would become infinitely more useful if you could add that ability. For instance, by double clicking the the play position digits, they become editable for the user to specify his exact desired location.

Suggestion: On a similar topic, clicking on the numbered timeline atop the track view does nothing. It would be handy to be able to move the cursor to a given point on the timeline by simply clicking on that spot. Currently, the only way I’ve found to do so is by double clicking on the timeline, but that will also create a very small yellow looped region, which I then remove by right clicking on it and selecting “remove loop region.”

Chad

P.S. I hope my contributions help you some. I enjoy the program and find it a real one-stop shop for my needs. I just think it’s lacking a few details, most importantly my feature suggestion in the other thread.

Hi Chad

First of all, thank you for the suggestions.Feedback is always appreciated.

We have seen the bug you have encountered and we are working on fixing this for the next release. It was a good find.

I think your suggestion for the play position is a good one and we will look at this for the next release.

On the second suggestion, you can move the cursor anywhere in the mixing screen by clicking your mouse anywhere within the mixing screen and not in the timeline. The timeline area is where you can create a loop region. This loop region can be adjusted by placing your mouse at either end of the loop region and then adjusting the length with your mouse.

We have created a video tutorial to show users how to move anywhere in the mixing screen and also creating a loop region.
Hopefully you will find it helpful.

Here is the link and click on the Mixing Palette Video

Thanks again Chad for your feedback and contributions. They are appreciated.
If you have any more questions or feedback please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

Hi Chad

Ah, my apologies. I didn’t realize that you had to double click inside the mixing screen instead of single clicking.

Hello

I found a “problem’ in the way the Copy & Paste works. I created a video of the problem using CamStudio, converted it to .wmv using Movie Maker 2.1 and posted it at the following links.....

TrakAx Copy & Paste Problem (3mb)
http://www.savefile.com/files/1295059

(Video will be removed by 1-05-08)

The video shows what happens when I try to select a number of clips to Copy & Paste. Sometimes they all end up on the track I click on in order, other times there are random spaces between the clips. This happens no matter what settings I use. In AA 1.5 I use this technique a lot to take, say, a Verse section and place it after the Hook & Chorus parts. Then I can go back and edit the Verse parts at the Clip level, i.e. removing a Fill and replacing it with another, using the same Drum groove from the First Part but adding a Kick or Snare hit to change it up, etc. It might take up more screen, but it is easier than trying to cut out and insert parts.

And finally, how about the ability to Zoom In and Out using the + and - keys to go along with the Home - End key shortcuts?

Please remember that NONE of what I have wrote about deters me form using the program, just features and fixes that I feel would help it work smoother, that’s all....TraxAx as it stands right now is a great piece of work IMHO! And I look forward to Feb 2008 and the improved version!

Have a GREAT New Years Everyone!

PS - Here is the specs of the system that I am running the program on…

Dell Dimension XPS T700r - A Slot 1 P3 700GHz with 512mb memory
Soundblaster PCI 512 soundcard running under the kX Project 3537 drivers
Radion 9000 Pro AGP video card with 128mb memory, running under the latest AMD drivers.
60 & 80gig Maxtor HDD, 5400 speed
Win XP Pro with SP2, automatic updates turned off

I hope this helps.

Hey Smurf

Thanks a lot for taking the time to do such a great video showing the issue you have. Downloaded it this morning. Really appreciate it, I have passed this onto the dev team and they are going to take a look at it.

I will also discuss the zooming issue you discussed.

Thanks a million for all your detailed posts and taking your time to tell these issues in such a articulate manner.

We will be sitting down this week to go through all your posts.

Thanks again, we really appreciate it here at TrakAx!!!!

Hi there Forum

I am wondering when the next release is ready.  I am still getting the “AppOpts Module error” (Issue 5)and am not technical enough to do the re-mapping of My Documents from Network Drive drive to local disk.

Any hints on release

I have heard such great things from my online colleagues so I cant wait to get Trakax up and running.

Hi Dino

Thanks for the post. We are currently working very hard on the new release. We can show how to map your documents to your hard drive but hesitant to do so as it might effect your work and somebody might be accessing your documents for work etc.

We are working hard and hope to have a release soon.

best regards
Cormac

Hi M1sterSax0n

Thanks for downloading trakAxPC

This might be caused by codecs on your machine.
Try changing the codec for recording in by clicking on the codec tool buttons and change the codec.
Try saving to wmv.
I have included a screenshot to show you what it looks like. ( make sure you webcam is selected in drop down menu.)

There also might be a conflict between your microphone and your webcam so make sure your webcam or the device you are using to record your voice is selected in the audio capture hardware section.
Change the codec to .wav by click in the audio codec button. ( screenshot included)

We have also created a video tutorial for record functions, I hope this might help

http://www.trakax.com/software/about/comments/using_the_record_function_with_trakaxpc/

There are also video tutorials available from our site @

http://www.trakax.com/software/support/create_a_quick_mix/

I hope this resolves your issue. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me

Best regards
Cormac

Hello,

Love the app - I’ve not found anything like it on Mac or PC that has the easy ability to render out mixes, save pitch, and beat sync.  I’ve only played with this for an hour or so, but I think it’s pretty top notch.

Now that I’ve buttered you up, I believe I found a problem.  It may be just with the MP3 file I’m using, but I’ve had no problems with it before.

The problem is: I’ve got an MP3 that, when previewed in the Media Browser, will play but not generate any sound.  When I scrub it with the Play Position button, the sound suddenly kicks in.  When I import it into a Mix or into the TrakKutter, the waveform is a flat line & there is no sound.

Thanks.

Edit: My system specs are: XP Home SP2.  Mac Pro.  Intel Xeon Dual Core.  2GB RAM.  32 GB drive - 6.5GB left.  Logged in as Admin.

Hi Pickle

Cheers for buttering us up, we appreciate it here.

We have actually encountered this issue before. This issue is being caused by directX from microsoft. It actually only happens on very few mp3 but we have seen it. There is nothing we can do for the current release of trakAxPC but we have developed a work around not using direct X for the next release that we are currently working on.

We are very sorry for the inconvience and thank you for the post and bringing it to our attention. We hope to have the fix released very soon.

best regards
Cormac
