Hi RedCom,

Sounds like the application closed on you. Did this happen when you tried opening up a particular file format? When you dragged it into the Mixing Screen? Or is happening when you try and open a mix you have already saved?

Cheers

Hi Cram

Thanks for pointing this out to us. We have been working all morning on finding out what the issue is. We are sure that this has occurred recently from an automatic update from Microsoft. Which one we are not quite sure yet. The strange thing is that it is only happening on 1 machine here running Vista. While other machines using Vista are fine. We are working very hard to pinpoint the issue and will get back to immediately with a solution.

Thanks Again

Hi Guys

I havent posted for a while but have been checking back since March 08 hoping for the newer release which covers my original “error message”

Quote:
I am wondering when the next release is ready.  I am still getting the “AppOpts Module error” (Issue 5)and am not technical enough to do the re-mapping of My Documents from Network Drive drive to local disk.
END

Just wondering if i have missed the fix/new version??

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dino

We haven’t released the new version with this fix yet. We hope to have a new version with a fix for this issue in the very near future. I will e-mail you when the new version is released.

Thanks for your patience.

Best regards

if you try to highlight and then copy/paste a selection of a track while you have a loop region active, the paste will not go through.  took me a while to figure what was going on.. wink

edit: i just accidentally tried to do this again (force of habit) and it worked.. not sure what the difference was last time.

Hi Cram

We are looking into and changing the copy and paste functionality for the next release. We know what is happening with your issue and there is a fix in place for the next release.

Cheers

I have found a problem with file management in TrakAxPC.

I usually create a folder in Documents for each AV.

The folder contains all the images, titles, audio files and the finished mix.
This works perfectly OK.

The problem arises when I copied a folder to my external drive for permanent storage.
When I deleted the original folder on my laptop hard drive I found that the program couldn’t then find the files in the copied folder, just the transitions and volume envelopes.
Luckily I had another copy in a different folder.

Is this a program issue or am I doing something stupid (probably wink )?

Hi Ivan

What is happening is that .txm file is looking for the files and their location that where used to create the mix. If you have moved or deleted the files, the .txm file does not know where to look for the files that were used to create the mix.

Therefore the mix will not open.

If you save the mix as an archive file (see screenshot) the mix will be saved as a .tarc file. The .tarc file saves the mix and all the media used in the mix. When the .tarc file is opened all the media that is used in the mix will open up with it.

We are hoping to put in a browse for files feature in future releases.

Best regards

Cormac

Thanks Cormac.

Will try it.
I thought it would be something simple.

Unfortunately I could not find any reference as to what ‘Archive’ does.

Hi TrakAx Team I must say this software is wonderful to use. And, I use it nearly everyday since I first downloaded and joined up. It took me six or so months to get my mix groove back on as I had not mixed in over 20 years.

Some ideas I would suggest adding to the program - The ability to make it NOT do an auto search on everything or at all, as I like to leave it open and also surf online. What happens is it find the CACHE of my browser and while I know what, and why it does this… I want to be able to tell it not to bother with that. It’s more annoying than anything.

Now for ideas on what would make this program really smoke the compilation.

Make it so we can keep the same rhythm, yet slow part of the track we want down as if a record is spinning down, or up in fact. To give it that old school analog feel. I have recreated this very thing using other software and just import that track into TrakAx and it works very well.

Being able to select the entire or any part of a track have have it play in reverse.

For this having video abilities make it so that it can IMPORT say MS Movie Makers ability to add credits to the videos. Or check out what http://animoto.com/ is doing see if some of these types or styles of features can be included into TrakAx. The ability to really make our content STAND out is what I think your goal is here.

Please add these Audio Filters: Vocal removal (offer a few ways to do this not just the typical 180 shift trick only), Instrumental removal same idea as vocals.

I think also a loop/drum machine able to be used like the old pads back in the day. Allow it to grab the beats we make, as well as we can import ANY sound, music, and or what we wish into it. So we can then use the number pad on our Keyboards to tap out these new beats and sounds. And, record say up to 5 tracks of them to be able to play as we mix to them.

If you want Track Ax to really take off with people Add the functions and like features of ManyCam or Webcam Max into it so it is also a Webcam MIXING tool we can mix with LIVE… How is that for a NEW USE and market for you with TrakAx?

Also make it so that TrakAx cam compress at the users selection of course files to being as small as MS Movie Maker.

Add a filter or feature that can stutter sounds as to repeat them in time to the beat at a faster rate. So say double, triple, and quad time repeat # of times enter here…

I can’t tell enough people about this amazing program. And, I want to take it live in the mix on my Online show that I host, and share with people just how wonderful this program is.

Well I have other ideas but I think these should keep you a little busy for a while.

Here is one of my latest mixes to check out… It’s more like I used to mix… And, YES this was done 100% using TrakAx to make this possible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6nh2QouZh4&fmt=18

Here is another recent one: And, back in the day… No one I knew could dare keep up with me in my mixes.. 21 Stereo Tracks, 2 Eight track recorders 4 Turntables ALL running at one time and, with the flip of 12 switches I could double the tracks to 42 mono tracks one at a time and have as many inputs or more to mix with… And, every sound FX filter you can dream if and more.

All done with trashed stereos I found in the trash in 1979 through 1984 as I built my recording studio at age ten…

And, thanks to TrakAx I am able to recreate just about one 100th of that systems abilities I do some track prep using other software to bring me more to about a 50th of what I used to be able to do all on analog equipment none of it being pro, or even made for what I used it for.

Here is the BREAK OUT I am BACK in the MIX Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnA0e9JYZHw&fmt=18

And, I have much more planned for TrakAx.

Hi SpinergyDude

Thanks for kind words and detailed post we appreciate it here.
Just checked out your mixes on Youtube and they are brilliant!!! Well done.

I will go through your ideas one by one

1)Some ideas I would suggest adding to the program - The ability to make it NOT do an auto search on everything or at all, as I like to leave it open and also surf online. What happens is it find the CACHE of my browser and while I know what, and why it does this… I want to be able to tell it not to bother with that. It’s more annoying than anything.

Answer: You can turn this option off. In the media browser click on the options button and uncheck the box that says : Monitor your local computer for new files. This will stop trakax monitoring you machine your new files. (see Screenshot)

2)Make it so we can keep the same rhythm, yet slow part of the track we want down as if a record is spinning down, or up in fact. To give it that old school analog feel. I have recreated this very thing using other software and just import that track into TrakAx and it works very well.

Answer: We have experimented with a tempo envelope on the track to slow down or speed up a track but we found we were running into issues with the global tempo and the beatmatching algorithm. It is something we will revise and it is a cool idea.

Being able to select the entire or any part of a track have have it play in reverse.

You can play a track or a segment in reverse. Right click on a segment and select segment properties. Click on the reverse button. That segment will now play in reverse while still beatmatched. (See screenshot)

For this having video abilities make it so that it can IMPORT say MS Movie Makers ability to add credits to the videos. Or check out what http://animoto.com/ is doing see if some of these types or styles of features can be included into TrakAx. The ability to really make our content STAND out is what I think your goal is here.

Answer: We have been working on this and in the next release we will have the ability to add credits and new effects.

Please add these Audio Filters: Vocal removal (offer a few ways to do this not just the typical 180 shift trick only), Instrumental removal same idea as vocals.

Answer: These is a very difficult thing to do and we have done extensive research into it. Check out this post about vocal removal.

Answer: Very cool idea. It is something we will look into for a future release.

Answer: Thanks again for the suggestion. We will check out these applications and get a better feel for them.

Add a filter or feature that can stutter sounds as to repeat them in time to the beat at a faster rate. So say double, triple, and quad time repeat # of times enter here…

Answer: I need more calcification on this suggestion. Do you mean speed them up while still staying beatmatched?

We certainly got a lot of great feedback to go through and thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed wishlist, we really appreciate our users taking the time to write and help us make a better application.

Keep up the good work SpinergyDude!!! Your stuff is great and that you are making such great work with trakAxPC!!!! Very impressive.

Thanks again
Cormac

Cormac HUGE massive THANKS bro for hooking me up with these fine answers.

Thanks for the comps on my mixing my friend. I have been having so much fun with this program.

Think of how Max Headroom spoke in the movie, and that is more or less what I seek. Here is what I do now: I use the shift select tool, and copy the part I like, I then paste that and cut it to the size I want. Then I copy that, and paste it to a new track if it will not align where I want it.

So I end up with say three tracks to repeat the one sound I want. More or less like a reverb only this offers better sound control over the way it feels I think.

Now what would be cool is to have a tool that you use to do all the manual steps minus the cutting the the sound down to what you want as this is individual to each user. And, then have a means to have both a auto stitch option so that instead of using three tracks for each piece, they are reduced to one track with the three pieces. We can do this now but sometimes I use a different global BPM than the pieces I am working on are. So to shift to the free move mode changes the BPM on me and makes a mess of it. Then the option to stretch or time or space not sure what one it would be these pieces to where I want them and not change the BPM, just where I place them, and keep them next to each other.

This might be a really tough one now that I think of it as the global BPM would be trying to sync every track not in the free movement mode…

Also I will be mixing LIVE this AM on BlogTV using TrakAx and have my web cam watching as I mix....

BlogTV.com I am user name AbiliTV - And, while I can not afford to buy these cool tracks and beats you offer which are great prices so it’s not that they are over priced. I am under paid for being fully disabled… I am on SSDI and need to keep tabs on everything to make it work.

The MIC you will hear me on is a cheap $10.00 Mic if you get a chance to tune in it is the SAME mic I use in the one video I recorded… It now sounds like a much costlier mic.

I have always wanted to be an sound engineer and well now I can be more or less.

Thanks for making or providing this great software for free my friend.

Spinergy

PS: I have the Monitor Local Computer for new media turned off or not selected now.
PPS: I don’t believe this… LMAO all this time it was right in front of me sheesh… The reverse option… Thanks bro, I can’t stop laughing at myself now. I never thought of using those buttons in the properties screen. DOAH! You rock my friend.
