No MP3 export on V4.0 and m4a export bug…

Colm,

I just upgraded from v3 to v4 and noticed that there is no option for exporting to .mp3 format.
Is there something that I need to do? Or is this format no longer supported?

Also, when I exported to .m4a format, the starting track seems to export/render out of sync or exported at the wrong time location. It’s hard to explain but let me try again:

I have 3 mp3 tracks that are pretty much on top of another time wise. When I playback, everything sounds good. However, when I export via .m4a, the starting track doesn’t start but until much later even though it should start first.

There is an attachment to explain what the issue. ( actually, I couldn’t attach the file for unknown reasons).

Please let me know if there are still bugs with the new version as I would like to probably rollback to the old version if possible.

Thanks,
Dj Arity

Hi DJ Arity,

Thanks for the question and sorry you are experiencing an issue.

So if I understand correctly, the rendered version is playing differently to the mix you created. Do you have a loop region set up? If so, can you remove the loop region and try rendering again. Have you rendered the mix at M4A highest qualities (320kpbs and 256kpbs)? Even if you render/export the file as a WAV, are you getting the same problem.

With regards to MP3 and M4A, you can no longer export to MP3, instead you can now export to the .M4A file format.

M4A stands for MPEG 4 Audio which is a popular file extension used to represent audio files and is compressed using MPEG-4 technology which is an algorithm with lossy compression. It is primarily associated with “MPEG-4 Audio Layer” and files in this extension are the audio layer of MPEG-4 movies (non-video).

Most people are familiar with MP3 and how it shrinks down the file size of songs and other audio files. M4A and MP4 do the same thing as MP3, but even better. Quality is better and file sizes are usually smaller than MP3 files. But unlike MP3, no licenses or payments are required to be able to stream or distribute content in M4A format (unlike MP3 which requires you to pay royalties on content you distribute in MP3 format). This fact alone, is more than enough reason (due to the extreme cost savings) to use M4A files instead of MP3 files. In addition, M4A files tend to sound much better than MP3 files encoded at the same bitrate.

M4A aims to overtake mp3 and become the new standard in audio compression.  M4a format was first introduced by Apple.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Best regards,

Colm

Hi DJ Arity,

We are looking into this matter at the moment. However, I might have a work around for you which may help you as we look into this issue.

If you save your mix as a tarc file - http://www.trakax.com/software/wiki/Category:Save_a_Mix::Archiving_a_Mix_or_Media_to_Share/

then, close down your mix and re-open the new archived (tarc) file that you just created and try and export your mix again. - http://www.trakax.com/software/wiki/Category:Save_a_Mix::Open_an_Archived_Mix/

Hopefully this should do the trick for the moment. Can you let me know how you get on.

Thanks and apologies again,

Colm

Hi I just installed the trial version of this software because I was very impressed by the automatic beatmatching and very simple bpm controls. However, I am experiencing the same issues as the OP.  I attempted the archive and reopen workaround you suggested, but it did not change the export result in any way, the tracks are still out of sync from how they sound previewed in the program itself. This issue unfortunately renders the entire software package useless for any sound mixing. Have you made any breakthroughs? I would love to purchase the software if it will work as intended

Hi JoHiller,

We have a fix for this issue now and will be releasing an update hopefully in the next day or two at the latest. We have been doing some final testing to make sure everything is working correctly. There is an automatic updater built into the software and we’ll let you know when an update is available.

I will be in contact anyway when this update is available.

Sorry again for this inconvenience,

Best regards,

Colm

Hi Everyone,

There is a new version of trakAxPC available to download now (4.01.18). This version should fix the exporting issue.

Simply, go to “Help” in the main toolbar and select “Check for Updates...” from the drop down menu.

Simply, follow the instructions. This upgrade will automatically overwrite the previous version.

Thanks for your patience and apologies for the delay.

Best regards,

Colm
