Hi, I’m new here and just converted from the free version to the pro version a couple weeks ago.  My problem is that now when I export as a MPEG-4 audio/video *.mp4 of any quality Windows Media Player and the player on my hosting site only play the audio of the exported file and the video is just black.  This all worked fine during the 30 day free trial. Should I uninstall trackAx and reinstall it or is there another solution?  Thanks in advance.

Hi WPCoc

Thanks for your post.

Does the video play okay in VLC player (a great free player that plays all file formats regardless of codecs on your PC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)?

When the video is uploaded to YouTube does it play?

Does the video play okay in the media browser and mixing screen within trakAxPC?

Also please make sure you do not have an audio track on solo or the video channel muted in the track name as if this is the case the track on solo or muted will not render. Please see screenshot.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards

Cormac

Hi Cormac,

Thanks for your quick reply.  I’ve checked the settings and the video is not on mute and the audio is not on solo. My video does play in the video output and when saved it plays with VLC but not with Windows Media Player. However, the video I created before buying the trackAx license plays with both VLC and WMP.  Another thing I noticed is that on my hosting site the video created with licensed trakAx wasn’t converted to h.264. The video I created with the free trackAx is available as OggVideo, h.264 & MPEG4 files but the video I created with the licensed version is only available as OggVideo and MPEG4. The OggVideo file plays but the MPEG4, after taking 6-7 minutes to load, only plays the audio.  The host site is archive.org and you can see the 2 videos by doing a search for wpcoc. The video titled July 9 was created with free trial trackAx and the one titled October 10 was created with the licensed version.

Hi WPCoC

Thanks for your mail and update

There is no difference at all between the free trial version of trakAxPC and the licenced version. They will both produce exactly the same file output.

If the video plays in VLC I would presume that the video is okay and has rendered properly. I am not exactly sure why one file will play in WMP but the other one does not but I would assume that it a codec issue on your PC. If WMP does not have the h.264 codec installed on the operating system it will not play.

If you download the latest k-lite codec pack onto your PC you should have the codecs you need for all files to play in WMP.

I am not sure what archive.org is not allowing to play this file but as I said the file from the trial is the exact same as the licenced version. There is no difference at all.

if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me,

Best regards

Cormac

Hello Cormac,

The Klite codecs solved the problem with playing the video on my PC and thanks for the link! I thought I was good with Xvid and other codecs loaded but maybe something was corrupted.

I’ve tried exporting my video from trackAx in a number of different qualities and it still won’t play on archive.org with their flow player.  I think my problem may be in the original DVD conversion process. I’ve only done this twice and the first time it worked and the second time it didn’t. I used MpegStreamClip to convert the DVD TS-_Video file to Mpeg4 and then opened it in trackAx to edit it. MpegStreamClip has a number of options and I don’t remember which ones I chose for the first & second videos.

Can you please recommend the best conversion format to use to convert a TS-video DVD so it can be imported into trackAx?

Thanks,

Chuck

Hi Chuck

Thanks for your mail and glad you now have WMP up and running and playing your videos.

I use Format Factory for some of my conversion work. It works very well, is free and converts TS files as well as many others:

http://www.formatoz.com/
Instructions

I would suggest exporting your TS file to high quality MP4: (see screenshot)

Once you select MP4, click on the Output Settings ( See Screenshot)

Then in the video encode dropdown select AVC (H264) and in the Quality Settings select High Quality and Size ( see screenshot)

Once this is done then just click on the start button in the main toolbar:

This file format should be really good quality when mixed and rendered in the YouTube settings in trakAxPC.

I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

Cormac
