We’ve been beavering away on the new version of trakAxPC for months now and we thought it was about time that we shared with you what we’ve been up to.

image

We added a rake of new features and functionality and we really do hope you’ll find them as exciting as we do.

We’re going to make a series of updates in the lead up to the new release, but the most important new features are the ability to upload directly to YouTube, export your mixes to all popular formats, including MP3, MP4, M4A, AAC etc., automatic crossfading, collaging or picture-in-picture effects, adding text and credits, video and audio scrubbing and grouping.

In truth, it’s been a hard slog and as with any software development, it has not been without its challenges, set-backs and issues. That said, we’re immensely proud of the new release and we hope it manages to tick all the right boxes with the most important people – you, the users.

I have attached some screenshots of the upcoming release below.

Putting Bread on the Table.

The new version of trakAxPC is being released as a Free application with the option to upgrade to the ‘Pro’ version. The Free version is streets ahead of the application currently available and it will continue to be a fully comprehensive music and video editor and mixer. We will also continue to support all users of the Free version in every way possible on the forum and by email.

However, we also have to eat. Therefore, alongside the free version, we have developed a ‘Pro’ version with some very tempting extra features and functionality. The ‘Pro’ version will be on sale for $24.95 (US Dollars) and will allow users access advanced features such as automatic crossfading, one-click export to YouTube and exporting to popular file formats such as MP3, MP4, AAC and M4A. It probably should be noted that we must pay a license fee for the usage of these formats, which are quite significant and the very affordable upgrade cost for the Pro version helps contribute to the costs of maintaining our development and support team.

We still have a bit of testing to complete, but we are almost there. We’re absolutely excited to get the new release out there and hope it won’t be too much longer.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the new look and feel.

We will be in touch next week with further updates.

Hi,

first of all - Great product! Been using it for years(Honestly - 3 years almost I think) ! I’m constantly checking the site for updates, and I know you are close to releasing it out, but come on guys… its itching :D

Great new features, too.

BTW, there is one feature that is really important for me, and still I’m not sure how the app engine is handling that at the moment - tracks audio levels. Is there an option to see the level of the tracks, and then try to equalize them? currently you have to trust your ears to do that.

It could be useful to have a dB scale and probably to be able to see the real levels - other software or plugin could also help me too, if you happen to know any? Now I have to use some other software like Audition to see the levels, and made the necessary corrections, and then save and import in TraxPC.

Also, a useful tool would be the beat counting/noting - not sure if I can explain that: it would be helpful to have a way to count the beats from any position, or mark the beats at a place. E.g. first 64 beats, last 64 beats, thats really helpful for beatmixing. Also it would be good to have a way to lets say mark the beginning of a beat, and then show you at the beatline the progression of the beats - e.g. 8 beats, 16 beats. That same can be done using timeline too, and measure it in mm:ss too. Its helpful if you are making a long mix, and you can have a marker where the new track starts and see its time progression for that particular track, and to be able to see it in reverse too (e.g. -01:35 etc).

Another really good feature would be “kill” EQ, e.g. Kill Bass, Kill Mids, Kill high effects? There is really no good graphic EQ available for traxPC yet.

I know this is a tool for beginners/novices but it would be helpful to have all those features.

Also, I think it would be good to have different modes(or “themes") for Audio editing and Video editing - so important features would be different for the two modes. Not all people use the video editing tool too frequently, agree?

Also, would be helpful to have more control over the BPM parameters, may be a new envelope that can be shown and enable more easy way of controlling the tempo, relative to the global BPM - that way you can transition BPM more easily.

Also, I think the default option for Stretching engine should be High Quality - especially for tracks, not loops.

Well, thats from me :D

I’m really excited about the new version, can’t wait to see it released - been waiting for that almost 8 months smile

Regards,
-TL

Hi DJ TL

Thanks very much for your kind words about TrakAxPC, we really appreciate it and thank you very much for writing such a detailed description of your desired features.

There are some great and useful features that you have sent in and we will be seriously looking at all your suggestions. It is great when users send in such great and detailed features that will benefit the software. We are in final testing of the new application and are hoping to get it out in the next couple of weeks so we won’t be able to add your features in the new release but we are planning on adding updates a lot more frequently to the new software and we will sit down and see if we can add some of your features in later versions.

Thanks again for sending in your features and we will see if we can implement some of them in upcoming releases.

Best regards
Cormac

Any idea when TrakAx Pro is going to come out?

I, as a lot of people, and are anxiously anticipating its release.

Would love to have an update, if that is possible.

Thanks.

Hi Reivax
,
We had a slight delay due to some complications with the infrastructure needed to release the software.  We are working extremely hard to solve the last few issues. As you know, we are a very small team, but we have all hands on board to get this issue resolved and the software released asap.
On the plus side, we have also added a one-click converter in the Media Browser - so you can now convert for example a WMV to a MPEG-4 (with H.264 codec) or a WMA to MP3 without having to parse the files. Really handy for quick conversions. You can have multiple files converting at one time.

We are working very very hard to get trakaxpc pro out we promise!

Many thanks (& once again apologies for the delay),
Cormac
