Hi,

Firstly well done on the new release! Great work!

I am having problems aligning audio clips on tracks at the start of the mix.

In the old version, I use to create a track with a dummy track with a dummy audio clip with NO SYNC on it.

Then, align all other clips on new tracks IN SYNC, using the right-click ‘Align with top clip’.

You have now taken away that right click option in the new release. So I am stuck!!!

How can I do this? Or maybe I was doing it wrong originally, if so, how do you align clips without them snapping away or not wanting to move to the start of the mix areas for each track?

Thx

Sam

Hi Sam

Thank a lot for downloading trakAxPc and your kind words, we really appreciate it.

We removed the “align with the above segment” option with the snapping feature which allows you to snap segments to other segments both above, below and beside. Making it a more powerful tool.

I am not really sure if I understand how you previously worked but you can turn off the segment snapping by clicking on the segment snapping button in the mixing screen toolbar. You can turn on and off segment snapping very easily by just clicking the button on and off. ( see screenshot)

I hope by being able to turn on and off segment snapping this might help you with how you used to work. If not, please do not hesitate to conact me.

Best regards
Cormac

Hi Cormac,

I am still having problems with this! I thought this would be a very basic function/feature of this software but I cannot get it to work :-(. I got around it in your previous version as described above.

Whenever, I load a audio clip into a track with the snap icon on ‘off’ and also no ‘snap to grid,’ the clip will not drag to the start point of the track. There is always a small gap. I am having to fiddle around to ‘force’ it or have to choose a different clip to see if that will work. A big hinderence!

If the ‘sync’ icon is off, then there is no problem dragging it to the start. But I need it to sync.

However, in some cases the clip once loaded goes to the start with no problem. I am confused why this is happening. Am I doing something wrong fundamentally here?

This is making me feel, I want to revert back to the previous version....

Hi Sam,

Our beat-matching algorithm analyzes the first downbeat of the loop/track brought into the mixing screen.
You can zoom into the tracks using the scroll wheel as this will produce more grid-lines for more exact matching.

We also analyze any bpm tags that are assigned to any loops or beats that are brought into trakAx. When you click on the properties of a segment, can you see a bpm figure in the tag section? When the loop has a bpm tag, the loop will be brought into the beginning of the track. If the loop or a selection of track does not have a bpm tag, trakAxPC will try and match the first downbeat of a loop/track with the first downbeat in the mixing screen. If the loop does not have a beat at the start of it and is not tagged, it will analyze it and try and match the first downbeat of the loop with the first downbeat in the mixing screen. This is why the loop does not start at the beginning.

One option is to disable the segment/loop from the global tempo and then click into the segment properties of the loop and change the tempo of segment to match the global tempo of the mix. The tempo of segment will then match global tempo and you will be able to move the segment to the beginning of the mixing screen.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards
Cormac

Hi Cormac,

Can you please explain the last but one (disable..) paragraph with some examples?

I changed the segment tempo from 94 to 90 but it still would not allow me to drag the segment to the start of the track, after switching the sync for the track back on.

Thx

Hi Sam

I have done a video for you explaining the option I discussed. I think it easier to show you how you can do this in video rather than a load of screenshots. I also show how when you render a mix that does not start at the beginning it does not show up in rendered version. I hope this helps and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. BTW I have just uploaded the video this second so it might take youtube a couple of minutes to process the video. If you want to see it in a bigger screen click play and then click in the window to see it in youtube.

Best regards
Cormac
