Hello.  I decided to purchase the Pro version because it’s a no brainer at that low price.  Well worth it!  It’s worth much more in my opinion.

Since TrakAx Pro already has H.264 support, will support for importing (and exporting if possible) M2TS/TS/MTS/MKV extensions be added in any future versions?  Also, will there be any future support for importing AC3 audio?

Thanks!

Hi TaaDow

Thanks for purchasing TrakAxPC Pro. We really appreciate your business and thank you for the kind words.

Yes, we do plan to support AVCHD files (M2TS, MTS files) in future releases.

We will also look at TS files. There are no plans to support matroska video (MKV) files in the near future but I will pass it onto the engineers.

On your question of AC3 audio, you can import videos with the AC3 Codec currently.

Firstly close down the application if it is open.

Then download the FDDSHOW codecs from the soundforge site. These codecs contain a decoder for AC3 audio which trakAx can read: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/

Once you have installed the codecs, then re-open trakAxPC. You should now be able to open video files with the AC3 Codec.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions or issues, please do not hesitate to contact me

Best regards
Cormac

Thanks for the quick reply Cormac.

That’s great to know you’re planning support for AVCHD.  I already have FFDSHOW installed but hadn’t imported any videos with AC3 yet because I didn’t think AC3 was supported.  I’ll import some and see how it goes.

I currently use MeGUI to prepare my AVCHD files for TrakAx and it will be great once AVCHD support is available to be able to skip a step and avoid re-encoding.  I encode at a high bitrate with MeGUI so the re-encoding process doesn’t lose much quality.

I have one other question.  Since I have a desktop and a laptop can I activate TrakAx Pro on both machines?  I need the software on both so I can have it with me when I travel.

Thanks!

Hi TaaDow

Thanks for the info, I will check out MeGui now.Cheers for that.

Yes, when you purchase trakAxPC, your activation code is valid for 2 machines, so you can activate both your desktop and laptop.

Please see our EULA for more information: http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/legal_agreement/

I hope this helps and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Best regards

I’ll record a video tutorial sometime this week for those who may want to use MeGUI to prepare their AVCHD videos for TrakAx.  I’ll post it up on YouTube and then post it here when it’s finished.

I just tried to import an MP4 that had AC3 audio and TrakAx didn’t detect the audio.  I tried different bitrates and also tried 44.1kHz instead of 48kHz and that didn’t work either.  When I used AAC for the audio it was detected but the AC3 wasn’t detected.

Are there any specific settings I need to use for TrakAx to detect AC3?

Thanks!

Hi TaaDow

Sorry, I thought you were trying to bring in an Avi or Mpeg with the AC3 Codec.

Currently we do not decode an MP4 with an AC3 Codec.

This is something we will definitely look into.

Thanks for the feedback

Best regards
