An effect is only applied to the media that is directly underneath the effects grid area. To adjust the length of an effect grid area, move your mouse to the start or end boundaries of the grid and the mouse cursor indicator will change to display the adjust length indicator shape. While holding down the left button on your mouse, drag in direction of your choice.
