In the Mixing Window, a user can add multiple envelopes to a track which will alter certain parameters of the track depending on the the envelope selected. These “Envelopes” include Volume, Pan, Pitch and Video Brightness.
- The Volume Envelope allows users to control and manipulate the volume of an audio segment at any point in the time line. To display the Volume Envelope, click on Volume Envelope icon in the track name. The Volume Envelope will be shown as a red line across the whole track. Nodes can be inserted at the desired positions on the envelope. By repositioning these nodes, the volume of the segment at those points will be adjusted.
- Pan envelopes allow users to control and manipulate the amount of the sound that is directed to the left or right channels of the mix at any point in the time line. This is a very powerful facility if the user wants to adjust the pan levels of selected segments in an audio track. To display the Pan Envelope, click on “Show Pan Envelope” icon in the track name. The Show Pan Envelope will be shown as a Blue line across the whole track. Nodes can be inserted at the desired positions on the envelope. By repositioning these nodes, the amount of left or right panning of the segment content at those points will be adjusted.
- The Pitch Envelope will allow users to change the pitch of the audio file anywhere along a track by re-positioning or adjusting nodes on the envelope at the selected locations. To insert a Pitch Envelope, right click on the audio segment and from the drop down menu select “View Envelopes”. In the View Envelopes sub menu, select “Pitch Envelope”. A Pitch Envelope will now be displayed on the segment and will be shown as a yellow line, fixed in the center of the segment, which is the default pitch setting position.
- Video Brightness Envelopes allow users to control and manipulate the brightness of a segment at any point in the time line. This is a very powerful facility if the user wants to adjust the brightness of selected frames in a track. To display the Video Brightness Envelope, click on “Show Video Brightness Envelope” icon in the track name. The Video Brightness Envelope will be shown as a red line across the whole track. Nodes can be inserted at the desired positions on the envelope. By repositioning these nodes, the video brightness of the segment at those points will be adjusted. The shape of an envelope will dictate how smoothly or sharply the selected function is applied between nodes.
